Art Conservation Open Day, feat. African Modern Artworks from the Argyll Collection
Dunoon Burgh Hall, Dunoon, Argyll
Saturday March 4th
10am-4pm
Free, all welcome, family friendly!
This weekend, Dunoon Burgh Hall will host an Art Conservation Open Day focused on the African artworks in the Argyll Collection. These previously overlooked artworks have been the focus of a research project led by Kate Cowcher, and received media attention in 2021 when news that they had been researched and reattributed was made public. Owned by Argyll and Bute Council, the artworks have lived outside of museums in schools and libraries since the 1960s and 70s, and have, therefore, never received any conservation attention.
