Join us on MSTeams for a roundtable on The Visual Culture of Trumpism, with art historians Dr Grant Hamming (Virginia Tech) and DrNatalie E. Phillips (Ball State University). Dr Hamming and Dr Phillips are the editors of the volume Interrogating the Visual Culture of Trumpism (Routledge, 2024), and will be joined on Friday by some of their contributors including Dr Annie Ronan (Virginia Tech) and Dr Erin Pauwels (Temple University).
Hamming and Phillip’s edited volume sets out to “tackle some of the most perplexing—and urgent—aspects of the Trumpist visual project,” and includes a diverse collection of contributions (“resistances and responses”) from art historians and contemporary artists. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn more from our colleagues in the US about the historical precedents, defining characteristics and anticipated fallouts of the visual aspects of Trumpism, from “the seemingly trivial to the starkly horrifying.”
Contact Dr Kate Cowcher (kc90) with any questions.
