The Centre for Contemporary Art has grown out of a number of projects and initiatives developed over the past few years, which include:
Contemporary Art in Scotland, Tate British Art Network Sub-Group, 2017-18
The Contemporary Art in Scotland sub-group was funded by the Tate British Art Network, and organised a series of meetings in 2017-18 for researchers, artists and curators at Hospitalfield, Arbroath; Fruitmarket Gallery, Edinburgh, and Lifespace, Dundee.
Menstruation Symposium
A one-day symposium uniting artists, cultural workers, scientists, menstrual activists, sociologists and entrepreneurs to discuss the politics of menstruation in January 2018.
Politics of Display: Collateral Events and Pavilions at the Venice Biennale
A day-long conference sponsored by the EU-LAC-MUSEUMS project on the politics of display at the Venice Biennale in November 2017.
In and Out of American Art: Between Provincialism and Transnationalism
A two-day conference in October 2017 sponsored by the Terra Foundation for American Art and the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art.
